Hi Folks,
***The workshop is SOLD OUT but they may add more spots hopefully as Covid gets better under control, Call Arrowmont to get on a waiting list or to check on availability***
Julie Belcher will be teaching a workshop this year at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, in Gatlinburg, TN. Applications open February 1 , 2021 so put it on your calendar if you want to learn some quick printmaking with typography and combining paper with encaustic beeswax. Class capacity is small and Covid safety protocols will be in place. Read all about the class and safety at the link. Thanks
This workshop will feature guerrilla printmaking techniques to create original monoprints on paper that students will encase and layer in luxurious translucent and pigmented beeswax. Participants will work with typography, letterforms as words; but also, as pattern and texture on various papers that they can paint, tear, collage and then fuse the layers of imagery with melted wax on a wooden canvas. This unique combination of impressions on paper and wax will make for great experimentation and provide plenty of techniques to take home and apply to your own practice. Open to all skill levels.
Longtime art partners Peggy Hambright and Julie Belcher are making work again. Please follow their new endeavor over on Instagram @TheKnoxvilleGirls to see collaborative art - painting, encaustic mixed media, prints, drawings and more. They do commissions too.
